Table of Nations - Beginnings of the line of Ham

Ham is known as the father of Canaan. He is cursed to be the lowest of slaves to his brothers for instead of looking away from his father's nakedness he ran to tell his older brothers, Shem and Japeth, who turned their faces away and walked backwards covering up their father Noah.

Genesis 9:24 "When Noah awoke from his wine and found out what his youngest son had done to him, he said, "Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves wil he be to his brothers."

Africa is known by geographers in ancient times as the Land of Ham. The Egyptians called their land Kam.

Ham has 4 sons: Cush, Mizraim, Put and Canaan
Cush gave his name to Ethiopia which was called by the pharoah of Egypt, the land of Cush.
Mizraim fathered the people who settled in Egypt as the Hebrew name for this land is Mezraim.

The sons of Cush are: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca.
Seba fathered the nation of Sabaeans who lived on the west coast of Arabia.
Havilah settled the east coast of Africa. Sabta, the third son, was father to a people living on the east side of the Arabian peninsula. And the last son, Sabtecha, settled in North Yemen.
And Cush's grandson, Sheba, forefathered the land of South Yemen.
